Alguronic Acid is a group of complex polysaccharides, produced by specific strains of microalgae that function to protect and regenerate the microalgae cell. How was Alguronic Acid discovered?
Alguronic Acid was unexpectedly discovered by a team of scientists at a San Francisco based biotechnology company focused on the development of renewable energy solutions from microalgae. While researching thousands of microalgae strains, the biotechnology scientists identified a protective and regenerative polysaccharide compound produced by certain strains of microalgae that, when isolated and tested, showed significant anti-aging properties.
