ABOUT THE MAKER
Born and raised in Orange County, California, Jennifer Rhee spent most of her childhood immersing herself in DIY crafting books and arts. Her favorite hobby was making gifts by hand then sharing them with her friends and family. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising with a major in Apparel Manufacturing Management, Jennifer moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the fashion industry with design and merchandising. During the 12 years of her fashion career working for BCBG Max Azria, Juicy Couture, and PAIGE, her passion for candlemaking evolved along with the influences of her love for traveling, enjoying nature, and exploring world cultures.
Jennifer’s appreciation for French design and their Joie de Vivre way of life started from early childhood, admiring the art and fashion, and also being surrounded by her own mother’s large collection of vintage French furniture. Lait means “milk” in French, which perfectly fits the intention of nourishing the senses. In 2014, Jennifer poured her very first custom order, specially made to tailor one of her brother’s events. Now, Jennifer runs her full-service, small-batch candle company and hand pours luxury candles out of her studio in West Hollywood.
